Dr. Maura Henninger — Naturopathic Doctor NYC

Dr. Maura is a licensed and board-certified Naturopathic Doctor based both in New York City and Connecticut who offers natural health options for everyday health concerns. She believes that each person is unique and treats patients with the utmost care and compassion, working with each to create a personalized holistic treatment plan that will include a combination of supplementation, detoxification, lifestyle recommendations and methods to optimize the mind-body connection. Dr. Maura loves educating her patients and is committed to ensuring that each patient fully understands his or her treatment plan. She also thinks that the key to optimal health lies in the fusion of conventional and holistic medicine and works closely with MDs and other health professionals to ensure a patient’s greatest success.

A graduate of Dartmouth College, she worked for several years as a magazine editor before following her passion for holistic healing to University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine. After completing four years of study, 1200+ hours of in-residence clinical training, and a medical internship at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, she earned her doctoral degree in Naturopathic Medicine. She is currently pursuing additional training at The New England School of Homeopathy and continues to write and blog extensively on medical subjects for , among other publications, in hopes of introducing the great benefits of natural medicine and Holistic Nutrition to as many people as possible. She is also boarded as a Certified Nutrition Specialist®. 

Dr. Maura is a member of the New York Association of Naturopathic Physicians and the Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians.

Treating Leaky Gut: The 4Rs (Part 1)

In my last video, I described leaky gut and its connection with a variety of conditions from skin issues to autoimmune disease to weight gain. If your gut is in a state of impermeability, it does not have to remain that way. Leaky gut is treatable and the first step toward treating much of the chronic problems I see in my practice. We naturopaths use use something called the 4R approach to heal the gut. The R’s stand for: Repair, Reinoculate, Repair and Restore. Here, I discuss the first two steps.
